What's the M-LEADership Game?

Get ready to explore, connect, and grab some free swag!

This experience is all about giving students the chance to discover what M-LEAD and our amazing campus partners have to offer. Whether you’re revisiting familiar spots or uncovering hidden gems on campus (or online!), this is your opportunity to learn more about leadership, involvement, and community — all while picking up some awesome giveaways along the way. Come curious, leave inspired to engage in new leadership development programs!

M-Leadership is happening now! The challenge runs from August 25th-October 31st.

How does it work?

Explore.

Get around campus and see what leadership programs U-M has to offer. The goal is to explore, find as many programs as you can, get some free swag and enjoy the experience. It’s not a race!

Play.

Find and collect codes hidden around campus (and even on this website!) associated with leadership programs around U-M. Each code can be scanned or entered by every player — it doesn’t matter who finds it first.

Share.

Get your friends to join! Track what position you’re at compared to others and discuss all the leadership programs you’ve learned about throughout the game. Collect more codes to earn points for more rewards.

Joining the game

Step 1: Sign Up

It’s easy to play the game! There is no physical card or additional account creation necessary to play, and you can participate entirely through text.

Text NEWPLAYER or any valid code to 734-327-4200 to create a profile and play via text. Messaging and data rates may apply.

This will take you to your default messaging application.

Step 2: Get Points

Here are a couple examples of spots where you can find M-LEADership Game codes:

  • Inside University Buildings
  • M-Buses
  • In-person at M-LEAD events (Festifall, UMIX)
  • Online on M-LEAD website
  • And more!

Step 3: Earn Prizes

Codes are scattered across campus anywhere, from university buildings to even on this website. Upon finding a code, text the code to 734-327-4200 to earn points accordingly.

To check how many points you have, text POINTS to 734-327-4200. The more points, the better the prizes are!

 

This will take you to your default messaging application.

Step 4: Collect Your Rewards

We will be giving out bucket hats, tote bags, reusable travel mugs, and sweatpants among our selection of prizes! We will reach out to all students at the end of M-LEADership Game to claim prizes.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the M-LEADership game last for?
The game launches at the start of the semester on August 26, 2024 and lasts until Fall Break on October 13, 2024.
What number do I text codes to?
All codes should be sent to 734-327-4200. You can also text NEWPLAYER to create an account and POINTS to view your point total.
Is there a maximum number of prizes I can earn?
Students are limited to a maximum number of 2 prizes due to supply constraints and to ensure as many students as possible can earn prizes.
Do I need to be in a specific school/college to participate?
No! All students are welcome to participate in the M-LEADership Game.
Can faculty/staff participate?
No, the M-LEADership game is currently only offered to all undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Michigan.
When are new codes added?
Dozens of new codes will be added at different periods within the span of the game so stay tuned for periodic updates.
