We met with representatives from the LSA Opportunity Hub to discuss leadership outside traditionally recognized leadership roles. What does it mean to fail? How can one lead through failure? How can shifting what we consider leadership can help us see opportunities to lead right now?

Samantha

Samantha

Hub Coach, LSA Opportunity Hub

Samantha is a Hub Coach in the LSA Opportunity Hub. She graduated from Alma College with a BA in Educational Studies and Psychology prior to obtaining her M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration and Student Affairs from Kent State University. Samantha enjoys collaborating with LSA students as they explore their interests and career paths, apply to various experiential opportunities, and prepare their next steps after graduation.

Alum Engagement Coordinator, Opportunity Hub

Aminta (she/her) is the Alum Engagement Coordinator for the Opportunity Hub. This role allows her to be the bridge between students and alums, opening the possibilities of life after graduation for LSA students. Aminta believes liberal arts allows students to explore their interests across the disciplines and better tailor their education to suit them. Her hope in this role is to further the connection between current students and alums so they feel prepared and supported in their career pursuits.

Kim

Kim

Kim (she/hers) supports students as a LSA Opportunity Hub Coach & Transfer Student Advocate. She especially enjoys being a brainstorm buddy with current UM students and pre-transfer community college students connecting the dots between their strengths, lived experiences, and future possibilities. 

Outside of work, Kim also enjoys being a core leader for UM’s APIDA faculty/staff association for Asian, Pacific Islander, and Desi Americans, playing the bass guitar in a local band, and playing video games!
