Join Neika White, Aliya Hirji, and Michael Goldberg in a conversation about the benefits of LeaderShape, an ethics-based leadership development experience for University of Michigan students. The three showcase how the 5 day, non-stop self-discovery and learning experience changed the way they see and interact with leadership.

Speaker Bio
Michael Goldberg
Undergraduate Advisor at the Ross School of Business
Michael Goldberg is an Undergraduate Advisor at the Ross School of Business. Over the past 20 years, Michael has dedicated his career to facilitating the positive social, academic, and civic development of young adults and organizations. Michael is the Co-Founder of the Detroit nonprofit organization, Summer In The City. In addition to his current advisor position, Michael has also worked as a social studies and math teacher, Director of Student Life at a suburban high school, and student administrator in the Judiac Studies Department at Michigan. As a community organizer, teacher, school administrator, and academic advisor, Michael has led initiatives to foster deeper learning among students as well as created and implemented professional development for peers and colleagues on relationship-centered instructional practice, among a variety of other topics designed to increase student engagement in school.
Michael received his BS in Secondary Education from Wayne State University. This past fall Michael completed his MA in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education from Michigan State University. He focused his studies on how to meet the diverse needs of students on campus. Michael currently serves on the Executive Board of the Advising Council at the University of Michigan and the DEI Staff Committee at the Ross School of Business.
Aliyah Hirji
Student
Aliyah (she/her) is a sophomore studying Biomolecular Science with a minor in Entrepreneurship on the pre-dental track. In addition to being a participant at Camp LeaderShape, she is also pursuing the Leadership Certificate through M-Lead and the Barger Leadership Institute. She is involved in the Pre-Dental Association, MPowered Entrepreneurship, and serves as an RA at Mosher-Jordan Hall on campus. Aliyah aspires to be an orthodontist in the future and to continue growing and using her leadership skills in the healthcare field and in her community.
Neika White
Administrative Assistant in MESA
Neika White (she/her/hers) serves as Administrative Assistant in MESA. Neika is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in Linguistics and African Studies. She has been serving the UofM community since graduation and enjoys working within MESA because her collegiate career was successful due to support from offices such as this one. “It’s not just about who YOU know but rather who knows YOU.” Outside of working to keep the flow of MESA seamless, you may find her working with the Disability community in whatever way she can, dancing, traveling, or trying out a new recipe.
